PAT dubs Imran Khan’s statement as a positive development

PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s repetition of the statement that “Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri was right when he said that no change could come about in the presence of present system” is a positive and welcome development against the incumbent system. Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri had told the people and those aspiring to bring about change that the current system was the biggest enemy of the nation and country and no change could be possible in its presence. Had the PTI leadership understood this before elections, the situation would have been very different today and pro-status quo forces would have suffered a defeat.

Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi, central President of Pakistan Awami Tehreek, expressed these views while answering a question during his talk with journalists in Lahore today. He said that there is a dire need of the hour that forces campaigning for change should get together against the incumbent system. He said that the strategy adopted by Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri for change will enable the nation to achieve its destination. He said that Pakistan needs a leadership that should not only have the understanding of problems facing the nation but also have the capability of resolving them.

Dr Raheeq Abbasi further said that there is a need of a system in the upcoming local bodies polls that helps the devolution of powers to the grass-roots. He said that for really representative leadership to emerge at the local level, the political parties needed to agree to a system that ensures the devolution of democratic process at the grass-roots.
