Registration picks up momentum for Itikaf 2012

Preparations have begun for establishment of Itikaf City under the banner of Minhaj-ul-Quran International. The hundreds of people from across the country are getting themselves registered for participation in Itikaf.

Jawad Hamid, head of central committee tasked with undertaking preparations of Itikaf, expressed these views while addressing the meeting of Central Working Council in Lahore today. Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz, Brig. (r ) Iqbal Ahmad Khan, Ahmad Nawaz Anjum, Sayyid Farhat Hussain Shah, Raja Jamil Ajmal and heads of sub-committees were also present on the occasion.

Jawad Hamid said that Itikaf City had been an annual event, the biggest in the Islamic world after the one held at Two Holy Mosques, which is attended by hundreds of people including women for whom separate seating arrangements are made.

He said that chief highlight of Itikaf is the keynote speech of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri. The occasion provides an ample opportunity to get sensitized to the basic teachings of Islam. He said that it is a refresher course on human rights where values of peace, love and brotherhood are propagated. Delegations from the around the world would also attend the event for which Directorate of Foreign Affairs of MQI would make arrangements.
