MQI not to take part in elections

Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi, Secretary General of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, has said that MQI would not take part in elections in the presence of current electoral system. He said that so-called elections would be a fraud with the people in the name of democracy and we would not become part of this joke.

Dr Raheeq Abbasi expressed these views while addressing a meeting of District Coordinators in Model Town today. Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz, Ahmad Nawaz Anjum, Bashir Khan Lodhi, Anar Khan and other office holders were also present on the occasion.

Dr Abbasi said that the nation would come to know on the 23rd of December that Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri was their real messiah and his arrival would be a big relief to the problem-stricken poor people, peasants, labourers and workers. He said that there would be light at the end of tunnel for the marginalized sections of society. He said that his presence in Pakistan would end the leadership crisis in the country.

Dr Raheeq Abbasi said that the current electoral system was the worst enemy of the people. He said that it was time for change and if the nation did not respond, nothing would be left to change. He said that it would be foolhardiness to expect any positive change under the system in vogue. ‘We seek reforms and changes in the system so that competent and able leadership from the middle class could come to the fore to guide this crisis-prone nation,’ he added.

Dr Abbasi said that given state of affairs the country was stuck up in, there was a need of taking bold decisions. He said that all political and religious leaderships would be invited on 23rd of December.
