In view of increasing environmental pollution and climate change, the Mustafavi Students Movement (MSM) has launched a nationwide tree plantation campaign titled “Green Pakistan Movement.” The campaign was officially inaugurated by MSM Central President Sheikh Farhan Aziz and other leaders by planting a sapling at the central secretariat in Model Town. A large number of student leaders participated in the ceremony.
While addressing the inaugural ceremony, Sheikh Farhan Aziz stated that "trees are the lungs of our environment; they not only provide us with oxygen but also help regulate the Earth’s temperature. The sapling we plant today is a guarantee for the safe future of generations to come."
He added that under the Green Pakistan Movement, MSM members will plant over 100,000 trees, contributing actively to making Pakistan green and fertile. Students and teachers from schools, colleges, and universities will be part of this important campaign. Trees will be planted in educational institutions, parks, and along roadsides.
He further stated that an awareness campaign regarding tree plantation will be launched throughout the country, including Lahore, with the slogan “One Human, One Tree,” appealing to every Pakistani to plant at least one tree during the month of independence (August) to make the country greener.
Awareness efforts will also include seminars, conferences, walks, and promotional campaigns under the “Green Pakistan” banner. The public will be informed about the significance of tree planting — and more importantly, tree care. He emphasized that saplings, being delicate, need time to develop strong roots. If we plant more trees and care for them responsibly, there is no reason Pakistan’s forest area cannot increase, leading to improvements in the environment and climate.
The Green Pakistan Movement by MSM will continue until August 25, 2025.
Prominent student leaders including Rashid Mustafavi, Muhammad Sohail, Ahmad Raza, Usama Mushtaq, and Kashif Jan were also present at the inauguration.
